Overview
This 4 day/3 night trek vacation is designed for those who enjoy wine and want to spend their time exclusively in the Wine Country. You will traverse the vineyards and mountains surrounding the quaint towns of Sonoma Valley. Traveling from the historic Sonoma Plaza to the village of Glen Ellen, you will enjoy a variety of experiences. With world class wineries to small winery estates, your trek will be one to remember! This trek provides you with a unique Sonoma Valley wine and walking vacation.
Details
The trek includes 3 days of hiking 5 to 8 miles (8 to 13 km). Not only will you wine taste along the route, but there is a wine and food pairing and a winery tour. One day is spent walking the redwood forest of Jack London State Park. Your lodging on this trek is first class each night.
Day 1: Sonoma, Hike and Wine Tasting
Your trek begins in the charming, historic town of Sonoma. Plan on arriving in Sonoma by 10 a.m., as you will enjoy a wonderful hike and wine tastings today. Drop your luggage at the historic hotel on the plaza where you will be staying for the next two nights. Pick up your lunch at a delicious cafe on the plaza, and then begin your hike ascending up to a beautiful vista point. Return to town through an old cemetery with fascinating gravestones and history, including that of the Spanish founder of Sonoma, General Vallejo. Your hike finishes with two reserve tastings on the lovely plaza. Dinner this evening is at one of the many fabulous restaurants within walking distance of your lodging.

Day 2: Sonoma, Hike and Wine Tasting
Today you will walk through the stately east side of Sonoma before hiking through oak and redwood forests, all part of a vast winery estate where you will enjoy your first tasting. You will then walk to your second wine tasting of the day at the oldest winery in the state. You will finish your hiking day back at your lodging where you can relax before another special wine country dinner in Sonoma.
Hiking today: 7 miles (11 km) with 500 feet (150 m) elevation gain and loss.
Day 3: Glen Ellen, Jack London Hike and Wine Tasting
The final day of your trek is an opportunity to experience the less traveled part of Sonoma Valley.
A transport will pick you up and take you to the village of Glen Ellen. You will hike in Jack London State Historic Park where you will see the “Grandmother Tree”, a 1,800+ year old redwood tree. You can also visit the author’s home, as well as the museum established by his wife. After a hike through the park, finish your day with a special tour and tasting at a vineyard estate and winery. Tonight’s lodging has a world class reputation as one of the best luxury inns in the U.S. You’ll relax by the pool, enjoy a spa treatment if you wish, and walk to one of several wine country restaurants.

Day 4: Trek Conclusion
