Day 1:  Yountville

Your trek begins in the charming town of Yountville.  Stroll through the village or relax on the private patio at your boutique inn before you can enjoy a fabulous wine country dinner.  Yountville, although small, is home to several restaurants that have been recognized with stars in the Bay Area Michelin Guide, all of which are easy walking distance from your inn.

Hiking today:  No planned hikes.  Your personal Trail Guide will suggest local walks and sights to see.

Day 2:  Oakville Appellation Walk

Walk from your inn along a beautiful country lane and enjoy the vineyard views of rural Napa Valley.  Along the way, pick up your lunch at a century old country store and deli.  You will visit three wineries in the Oakville appellation, famous for Cabernet Sauvignon wines.  Enjoy reserve tastings at these wineries, which range from world famous to intimate family owned.  After your last winery visit, you will be transported to St. Helena, where you will stay in a boutique hotel.  Visit the chic downtown for shopping, relax by the pool, or enjoy a spa treatment at your lodging before another fabulous wine country dinner.

Hiking today:  7 miles (11 km) walking between wineries with no elevation gain or loss.

Day 3:  Calistoga Winery Walk

Today you will be transported to the historic town of Calistoga.  You will be dropped at the first of three wineries you will visit today, an historic winery made famous for having one of the American wines that beat the French in a blind tasting in 1976 which inspired the movie, Bottle Shock. You will then walk to two estate wineries for unique reserve tastings.  After your last winery visit you will walk through Calistoga to your California inspired Bohemian hotel and spa with famous waters in their 1910 olympic mineral pool – your home for the next two nights.  Calistoga is home to many fine dining establishments for your dinner this evening.

Hiking today:  5 miles (8 km) walking between wineries with no elevation gain or loss.

Day 4:  Bothe/Napa Valley State Park

Your day will begin with a transport from your lodging to a mountaintop winery estate for a reserve tasting.  After your tasting, hike through Bothe/Napa Valley State Park, a beautiful and peaceful redwood and oak forest.  Your hike ends at a world famous winery where sparkling wines are made in the traditional Methode Champenoise.  After enjoying a cave tour and tasting, you will be transported back to your lodging in Calistoga.  You can enjoy a spa treatment which can include their famous mud bath!  You can enjoy your last delicious meal at one of the many Calistoga restaurants.
