This Kenwood trek is perfect for a quick, active getaway.

Day 1:  Kenwood Wine Tasting

Plan on arriving in the lovely “Valley of the Moon”, Kenwood, by 1:00 p.m. to enjoy your first wine experience of the trek.  Your hotel is a small luxury inn and spa noted in Travel and Leisure as one of the top 100 hotels in the world. Walk a short distance to a world class estate winery where they produce and make wines from only their vast estate. Enjoy learning about the estate as you are taken to their mountaintop terrace to sip excellent wines overlooking a stunning view of the vineyards and the Valley of the Moon.  Or, you’ll visit their expansive cave and taste their delicious wines amongst the barrels.  After your tasting, return to the inn to relax before you can enjoy a wine country dinner at an excellent nearby restaurant or stay at your lovely inn and dine from their small menu.

Hiking today:  No long hikes are planned for your arrival day.  You will walk about 1 mile between your inn and the winery.

Day 2: Trione-Annadel Hike and Wine Tasting

A short transport will bring you to the 5,000 acre Trione-Annadel State Park.  Enjoy a lovely hike along meandering trails through oak, madrone, redwood and manzanita woodland with views of Hood Mountain and the Valley of the Moon. In the spring the hills are covered in wildflowers.  Our trail notes will lead you to several nice locations along the route to enjoy a picnic lunch including the Ledson marsh that is home to native birds.  You’ll finish your trek with a short walk on a quiet country lane that leads to a secret path to a family winery and you will enjoy a special winery tour and tasting with the owner/winemaker at his estate.  A transport will pick you up and bring you back to your lodging to enjoy the pool and hot tub in the late afternoon. You can enjoy a wine country dinner at an excellent nearby restaurant or stay at your lovely inn and dine from their small menu.

Hiking today: 7 miles (11 km), 1100 feet (335m) elevation gain and 1000 feet (305m) elevation loss.

Day 3: North Sonoma Mountain Hike and Wine Tasting

Today you will be transported to North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park to hike among the oak, chaparral, and redwoods.  After a picnic lunch in the park, you will walk through the historic Jack London State Park, with a chance to visit the famous author’s museum and cottage where he wrote many of his novels. You will finish your hike at a lovely mountain biodynamic vineyard estate and winery for a special tour and tasting.  A short transport brings you back to the inn.  Your quick getaway has come to an end.
