This 4 day/3 night getaway gives you the opportunity to walk around the beautiful San Francisco Bay. You will stay in three beautiful bay side hotels and enjoy fabulous dinners every night. This is the perfect local's weekend getaway, or a wonderful short vacation for a visitor. Most of all, it allows anyone to experience the bay in a unique and personal way.

The trek includes 2 days of walking 9 to 11 miles (14 to 18 km) around San Francisco Bay, over the Golden Gate Bridge, and through the wetlands of the bay. The walks are on the San Francisco Bay Trail, going from San Francisco to Sausalito and then to Tiburon. The lodging is first class each night, and the dining options are as delicious as they are varied.

Day 1:  San Francisco

Start your vacation in San Francisco, staying near famous Ghirardelli Square and Fisherman’s Wharf. Enjoy the ambiance of this beautiful city strolling along the waterfront or riding on an historic cable car. Lodge in a luxury boutique hotel and you may choose to dine at a world class restaurant, recognized by both Michelin and Wine Spectator.

Hiking today: No planned hikes. If you are arriving early we will include the trail guide for a great walking tour of San Francisco, the Barbary Coast Trail.

Day 2:  San Francisco to Sausalito

Walk along the San Francisco waterfront, across the majestic Golden Gate Bridge, and into the historic village of Sausalito.  Along the way enjoy splendid views of the City and Bay of San Francisco, including Alcatraz and Angel Islands.  Your luxury boutique hotel is on the waterfront in Sausalito, where you can enjoy the artists’ studios, cafes, and restaurants of this charming town.  Dinner this evening can be at another Michelin recognized restaurant.

Hiking today:  9 miles (14 km) with 250 feet (75 m) elevation gain and loss.

Day 3:  Sausalito to Tiburon

Follow the San Francisco Bay Trail as you walk around the bay and through its wetlands, home to a wide variety of shorebirds and water fowl.  This relatively flat walk hugs the water and takes you through some of the bay side communities of Marin County with views of Angel and Belvedere islands. You end at a waterfront hotel in the quaint village of Tiburon next to the ferry dock. Enjoy stunning views back to San Francisco from your room. There are many dining options ranging from elegant to casual with fresh California cuisine.

Hiking today:  11 miles (18 km) with 200 feet (60 m) of elevation gain and loss.  Note:  This day also has options of hiking either 6 or 9 miles, rather than 11.

Day 4:  Trek Conclusion

Your Wine Country Trek comes to an end. Enjoy the breakfast delivered to your room before getting back to real life.
